Fire and Smoke Event in a Chattanooga School

A utility cart with cleaning products and supplies was ignited by a vandalizing pupil. The door was slightly charred, but there was a large amount of carbonized residue on the hard surface floors. Our Applied Fire & Smoke Technicians sealed off the ends of this corridor to mitigate circulation of combusted particles. We immediately set up hydroxyl generators to purify the air, establishing a safe indoor air quality. Then we started the wiping down and cleaning of the physically apparent soot and residues. We worked into the evening to ensure that the sparkling corridor, walls, and doors were ready for the following day's school session.
